The Courage to be the first Corporate fund (organized by the Almaty Marathon) named children's facilities that will receive charitable assistance based on the results of the competition on April 21, 2019.
Beneficiaries of the Almaty Marathon will be the following facilities:
- The boarding school No.15 for children from low-income families of Almaty region (construction of a sports ground)
- The Kirov Red Banner cruise Military-partiotic club of young army soldiers (construction of a climbing wall)
- The city program “Adaptive alpine skiing and snowboarding for children with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and other developmental features in high-mountain conditions”, implemented by the Pioneer Concept Private Foundation (construction of a multi-functional sports ground).
The history of the boarding school No.15 for children from low-income families of Almaty region dates back to 1959. Today, the school has 250 children from large, low-income and single-parent families. The school is not sufficiently provided with sports infrastructure. Construction of the sports ground financed through the charitable funds of the Almaty Marathon will fill the gap.
The Kirov Military-partiotic club was founded in 2015 on the basis of the orphanages and the House of Officers of Almaty under the «Project for support of single mothers of Almaty» on the basis of the SOS Children's Village of Almaty, it has children from 250 families. In 2018, The Sarbaz summer tent camp was opened for the Kirov club, and units of young border guards, marines and paratroopers were created. In 2019, it is planned to build a climbing wall for 125 young man with the funds raised at the Almaty Marathon.
The project “Adaptive alpine skiing and snowboarding for children with ASD and other developmental features in the high-mountain conditions” is engaged in sports development and adaptation of children with autism spectrum disorder, mental retardation, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy. This is a unique for Kazakhstan method of rehabilitation of children with disabilities. A child during a lesson solves many tasks of sensory integration, bodily therapy, and undergoes the necessary socialization. The surrounding nature and landscape have a beneficial effect on autists, in addition, at an altitude of more than 2000 meters above sea level, with a reduced oxygen content and low atmospheric pressure, passive rehabilitation of a large number of diseases (hypoxytherapy) occurs.
- “We are often asked how we raise funds for charity,” says Saltanat Kazybayeva, director of the Courage to be the first Corporate fund. - Everything is very simple: each participant, registering and paying for participation in the "Almaty Marathon", contributes to charitable purposes. So the necessary amount is collected. After that we don’t transfer money to selected institutions, but on an individual request we create the necessary sports infrastructure: we build sports grounds, climbing walls, we buy sports or medical equipment. In 2018 we collected more than 16 million KZT, and in 2019 it is planned to allocate 26 million KZT for charity.
It should be reminded that the Almaty Marathon will take place on April 21, 2019.
