One Day Clinic 01

The project aims to enhance the accessibility and efficacy of early fetal abnormality diagnosis that will help reduce infant disability rates in Turkistan Region by 40%. The Regional Perinatal Centre No. 2 will be equipped with a state-of-the-art FISH research microscope as part of the project.

Over the course of the next 15 years, the microscope will assist up to 30,000 pregnant women in the region.

The Turkistan Region has the highest birth rate in the country, and the new equipment will enable the timely detection of pathologies in a greater number of pregnant women and the provision of appropriate treatment. It is expected that up to 30,000 women will be examined over the next 15 years.

The project assumes installation of a retinal camera at the Municipal Perinatal Centre in Shymkent to diagnose and treat retinopathy in premature infants. Medical officers estimate that approximately 36% of premature infants are affected by this disease, which, if left untreated, can potentially result in blindness.

The only way to diagnose retinopathy early is during an examination at 3-4 weeks of life, using specialised equipment. The camera will facilitate the early detection of the disease, enable laser correction, and prevent vision loss.

Shymkent is among top three cities in terms of birth rate, but the region lacks the necessary equipment for ophthalmological screening of premature infants. The project will ensure the diagnosis and treatment of more than 24,000 babies over a 10-15 year period, preserving their vision.
