– The Fund will cover administrative costs of “Almaty marathon”. We are confident that the experience of the Fund will contribute to the improvement of business processes, she added.

The owner of the Foundation, energetic young businessman Galimzhan Yessenov became the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the “Courage to be the First” foundation. As he noted, “in accordance with the new strategy of development, this year under the auspices of the Foundation “Almaty marathon” will have significantly more events in different sports: for the first time this year, we will hold competitions in swimming, duathlon and triathlon”.

– We are confident that considering the charitable focus of both organizations, the cooperation between two foundations will give excellent results. As before, registration fees the Marathon donates to charity. For the period 2012-2016 – this amounted to more than 34 million tenge. This year’s list of beneficiaries of “Almaty marathon” includes 6 specialized boarding schools in Almaty for children with special needs (hearing, musculoskeletal system, vision and speech impaired). The most part of means will go on equipment and the establishment of sports halls and grounds, explained the Director of “Almaty marathon” Saltanat Kazaybayeva.

This year “Almaty marathon” will be held for the sixth time. The first start of the event took place in 2012. Within 5 years of the marathon, a project founded by Galimzhan Yessenov and his wife Aizhan Yessim, has become a social platform uniting caring/altruistic people and companies that support and develop mass sports and promote a healthy lifestyle. Galimzhan Yessenov – the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC “ATF Bank” and founder of the Science and Education Shakhmardan Yessenov Foundation.

The first “Almaty marathon” was attended by 2,500 people. The 2016 event gathered already 13 972 runners from more than 40 countries. On average, the organization of one marathon costs about 157 million tenge, most of the money “Almaty marathon’s” corporate foundation receives from sponsors.

In addition to “Almaty marathon” among the activities regularly carried out by the “Courage to be the First” foundation are lectures and sport fair of the marathon, women’s and vertical runs, The Tour of Almaty and children cycling races, the Championships of Kazakhstan and Asia in powerlifting and others.
