As officially reported by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there are currently no registered cases of coronavirus in Kazakhstan. Even so, the government has developed an action plan for the case if infected citizens will be detected in our country.

“Currently, we do not plan to cancel the event. We continue to prepare for the competition. Approximately 95% of our participants are citizens of Kazakhstan, including foreign professionals working in our country,” says Almaty Marathon Director Saltanat Kazybayeva. “In case of a pandemic and a decree canceling mass events, we reserve the right to call off or postpone the competition to another date, of which we will inform you on our official information sources. The health and safety of our participants remain our top priority. We hope that the situation will be settled soon and wish a speedy recovery to all patients. We kindly ask citizens to bear with us on this matter and not to spread false information.”

The entry fee paid by participants from other countries who are banned from entering the territory of Kazakhstan will be transferred to the Almaty marathon 2021.

Earlier, an international marathon was officially called off in Tokyo. The race was held on March 1 only for 200 people, who are the Elite category professionals. A total of 38,000 people were registered for the marathon. Mass events have been canceled as well in a number of other countries.

The Organizing Committee of the Almaty Marathon kindly asks all participants to observe the basic preventive measures - observe personal hygiene and limit your contact with people infected with any viral infections, including cold, ARVI, ARD, and avoid countries with the detected cases of coronavirus infection.
