The cycle race gave amateur riders a chance to feel like real cyclists and demonstrate all their abilities. Participants competed on road or MTB (mountain) bikes in three distances: 48.5 km, 35 km and 14 km. About 700 riders took part in the race.

The cycle race kicked off on the territory of ALMATY ARENA Multifunctional Complex. The competition started at 6:00 a.m. with a 48.5-km distance race and was closed by a 14-km distance race for young participants.

By tradition, the 48-km race winners were given champagne to spray on the podium. The fastest riders in the absolute standings were awarded with the following cash prizes: 100,000 KZT for the first place, 80,000 KZT for the second place and 60,000 KZT for the third place. The first place winners received the traditional yellow leader’s T-shirts as well. The best finishing time belongs to Almaty residents Yevgeniy Sladkov (1:10:40) and Yekaterina Shatnaya (01:17:33).

"The 8th Tour of World Class Almaty was successful despite the change of the route, which passed through Almaty Arena and the industrial central zone of Almaty. We are happy with the fact that we’ve managed to organize this great sports event. It is important to note that the number of people involved in amateur cycling is growing every year. In the first years we registered only 500 participants, now there are already more than 700 people. It’s worth noting that our guests come not only from various cities of Kazakhstan, but also from other countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, Austria, USA, Canada, Spain, United Arab Emirates and Georgia,"  comments Race Director Saltanat Kazybayeva.

Please be advised that the Almaty Marathon, the largest run in Central Asia, will take place on October 1 and is expected to bring together over 15,000 people. Registration is available on the official website.
