The Tau Jarys, a cross-country race and family festival organised by “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund, will take place for the third time in Almaty Region on 19 May 2024. A total of 1,300 runners are expected to take part in the race. Just an hour’s drive from Almaty, participants will be able to spend an active weekend with their families or friends.
The track will cross the picturesque terrain at the Alatau Ski & Biathlon Complex in Almaty Region. The race participants and guests will have an opportunity to enjoy the picturesque mountain landscape, take part in the entertainment programme and feel the sports atmosphere. The following distances are available this year: 2 km (10-14 years old), Nordic Walking – 6 km (15 years and older), 6 km and 12 km (15 years and older).
“The Tau Jarys is another striking event organised by the Fund. Our events have long ceased to be just running competitions. We unveil the beauty of Kazakhstan’s landscapes – lofty mountains, boundless steppes and colourful cities. This certainly contributes to the development of the tourism in the country. We firmly believe that running can not only improve the health of the nation, but also become a powerful driver for the economic and social development of Kazakhstan,’” said Galimzhan Yesssenov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund.
It is also worth noting that the Open Nordic Walking Championship of Kazakhstan will take place for the first time as part of this race. The competition will determine the country’s strongest athletes in this sport, who will join the national team of Kazakhstan to participate in the Nordic Walking World Cup.

Registration for the competition and payment are available at almaty-marathon.kz. Entry fees are KZT 6,000 for the 2-km children’s distance, KZT 11,000 for the 6-km distance and 6-km Nordic Walking, and KZT 13,000 for the 12-km distance. A return transfer is available in comfortable buses for an additional fee.
All finishers will receive a medal, and the female and male winners in each distance will be awarded cash prizes, diplomas and gifts from partners.
