The following distances are offered this year: 21.1 km (half marathon), 10 km, 10-km Nordic Walking and the Ekiden Relay. The half marathon is open to anyone aged 18 or over, and the other distances are open to anyone aged 15 or over. The Almaty Half Marathon is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and its tracks are certified in compliance with the World Athletics standards.
The half marathon track will take you through the scenic areas of the garden city and offer majestic mountain views. Runners will start at the First President Park on Al-Farabi Ave. and finish at the Central Stadium (29/3 Satpayev Str.).
The Almaty Half Marathon is organised by “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund, which annually has been holding the largest running event in Central Asia – Almaty Marathon, and a number of other amateur competitions since 2012.
“The Almaty Half Marathon has become a firm favourite among runners from Kazakhstan and beyond, thanks to its vibrant atmosphere and impressive scale. Just like other events organised by “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund, the spring race is super well organised and brings together thousands of people of all ages, from all kinds of jobs and backgrounds. It’s not just a pretty run, it’s a real festival of running that gets everyone ready for the main event of the year — Almaty Marathon. By the way, the spring run is the second largest race after the Almaty Marathon”, says Galimzhan Yessenov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund.
Please note that from 2025 runners have the option of donating any amount when purchasing their slots. This year, the Almaty Marathon is proud to donate KZT 106,241,284 for two significant charity initiatives fighting against infant disability in Shymkent and Turkistan Region. All projects can be found here.
“We love the Almaty Half Marathon for its springtime atmosphere — it’s the first major run after the winter lull. This year, we increased the number of participants by 2,000, taking the total from 8,000 to 10,000. Preparation for the run is as important as the competition itself, so we create all conditions for our runners. This season, we launched a new Community Almaty Run that is a community of running fans who are ready to share their experience, support each other and prepare for our running events. Furthermore, free training sessions are available for everyone to attend”, emphasised Saltanat Kazybayeva, Executive Director of “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund.
All participants who pass their distance at the Almaty Half Marathon will receive a finisher’s medal. Winners in all distances by age categories and overall winners will be awarded valuable and cash prizes from partners and sponsors.
Participants need to register and purchase a slot for the desired distance at almaty-marathon.kz.
