The Almaty Marathon is the Central Asia’s largest sports event taking place at the foot of the picturesque Zailisky Alatau mountains. Its track runs along the main streets of Almaty, offering stunning mountain views, long climbs and steep descents, where runners are accompanied by numerous cheering spectators along the track. This is so much more than just another sports competition! It’s a truly global event with participants from more than 60 countries around the world.
The Almaty Marathon is much more than just another mass sporting event! We use sport to drive positive community changes, combining inclusivity, sustainability, and the development of the city’s running infrastructure.
Charity is an important part of the marathon’s mission. A portion of entry fees is annually donated to support children with special needs. For all these years we have implemented more than 30 charitable projects in Almaty and Almaty Region.
The Almaty Marathon is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and its tracks are certified in compliance with the World Athletics standards.

Registration will be closed on 15 September 2025 or when the number of participants will reach 16,000 people, including 90 Ekiden teams.

Marathon – 42 km 195 m – 18,000 (eighteen thousand) KZT
Half Marathon – 21 km 97.5 m – 16,000 (sixteen thousand) KZT
10-km distance race – 16,000 (sixteen thousand) KZT
Nordic Walking – 10 km – 14,000 (fourteen thousand) KZT
Ekiden – 42 km 195 km – 240,000 (two hundred forty thousand) KZT. At least one female member is mandatory for a team to participate in the Ekiden Team Relay.
The entry fee is non-refundable and non-re-registerable.
Age Categories
Marathon – 42.2 km – 18–24, 25–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70+ years old
Half Marathon – 21.1 km – 18+ years old
10-km distance race – 15–17, 18+ years old
Nordic Walking – 10 km – 15+ years old
Ekiden – 15+ years old.
Starter kits will be issued on 26–27 September 2025 in Almaty from 10:00 to 20:00. The exact address will be announced later. No starter kits will be issued at the start area.
