The runners will start the race at the First President’s Park along Al-Farabi Ave. Then finish the competition at the Central Stadium located at Abay Ave. Traffic will be stopped on the roads of the city on the competition day.

Participants are offered one of the following distances:

  • 21.1km Half Marathon,
  • 10km ,
  • 10km Nordic Walking,
  • Ekiden Team Relay - the total distance of 21.1 km is divided among 4 team members.

“We obtained an official permission to arrange the event. I believe this is a great victory not only for our fund, but for the entire running community of our country,” says Saltanat Kazybayeva, Director of “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund. “For a long time we could not organise our runs in the city. Last year, the Almaty Half Marathon was held virtually, and not so long ago we had to postpone the Almaty Marathon to fall, since the event was supposed to bring together 17,000 people. However, the half marathon is a less public event. Furthermore, we already acquired experience in conducting competitions amid quarantine and know what to focus on when organizing the competition and how to ensure the safety of our athletes.”

Registration for the event and payment for participation are available on the website almaty-marathon.kz. Participation fee is 7,000 KZT.

“We have something new – not only runners, but also the Nordic Walking athletes will participate in the event this year. This sport is actively developing today. People of all ages are engaged in this type of walking” Saltanat Kazybayeva shares her opinion. “In addition, we opened registration for the team relay. This is especially convenient for corporate participants. The relay distance is much shorter that is why each runner should overcome about 5 km. Moreover, this is a great type of team building – joint workout, plan development and participation in the competition – all this can pull the team together.”

All participants who successfully complete the distance will receive a finisher’s medal. Three leaders among men and women running a distance of 21.1 km will also be awarded with cash prizes.

Since August 2020, sport events have been held in the world in compliance with sanitary safety measures. Thus, mass amateur starts have already been returned in Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, China, Japan and other countries.
