Almaty Residents Can Try Themselves in the Short-Distance Run
On 6 February, registration was opened for COPA ALMATY RUN, a short- and medium-distance running event. An unconventional run gives you an excellent opportunity to join an amateur running competition for non-professional athletes.
In the new season, runners can try their hand in Olympic distances of 100 m, 400 m, 1,500 m and 3,000 m. Each participant is now allowed to participate in two or more distances if he/she has a good physical fitness.
COPA ALMATY RUN is organized by “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund, an organizer of the largest annual marathon in Central Asia – Almaty Marathon and a number of other amateur running events.
COPA RUN will take place on 2 April 2023 at the Central Stadium (Abay Ave.). Men and women aged 18 and over can participate.
“Last year we received an extensive positive feedback on our first 1,000-m run. This year we decided to add sprint distances 100m, 400m and midrange distances 1,500m and 3,000m,” said Saltanat Kazybayeva, “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund Director. “We expect it will be a bright running festival at the favorite location of our runners – the Central Stadium. New records among like-minded people are waiting for you on 2 April at COPA ALMATY RUN.
All runners who successfully pass their distance will be awarded a finisher’s medal. Three winners among men and women in various age categories who pass their distances will be awarded medals and diplomas.
Everyone can pass registration and make payment on the website almaty-marathon.kz. The participation fee is 6,000 KZT. Registration will be open until 9 March or until the number of participants reach 600.
Please be advised that registration is still open for the Winter Run scheduled for 19 February and for the Almaty Half Marathon scheduled for 23 April. Registration for all running events is available at almaty-marathon.kz.
