On 17 March 2024, an unusual short- and medium-distance race - Almaty Copa Run - will take place in the Central Stadium (Abaya Avenue), Almaty. The race will bring together 700 runners aged over 18.
This season, athletes can try distances of 100, 1 000 and 3 000 metres. Each participant may run two or more distances if trained appropriately.
The Almaty Copa Run is a running event organised by “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund that annually organises the largest in Central Asia Almaty Marathon and a number of other running amateur races.
“For several years we have received a lot of positive feedback from short- and medium-distance runners. Last year we added distances of 100, 400, 1 500 and 3 000 metres, but this year we decided to leave the most spectacular ones: 100, 1 000 and 3 000 metres,” said Saltanat Kazybayeva, Executive Director at “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund. “We expect a bright running festival at your favourite location that is the Central Stadium. We anticipate new records among like-minded people already on 17 March.”
All Almaty Copa Run participants, who pass the distance, will receive a commemorative finisher’s medal. Winners and prize-winners in different age categories among men and women will be awarded medals and diplomas.
The Almaty Copa Run provides an opportunity to win a team standing as well. The team consists of 10 members: five men and five women. Team members can choose any distance, but only the best five results among men and the best five results among women will be considered for scoring.
Registration for the competition and payment are available at almaty-marathon.kz. The participation fee totals to 7,000 KZT. Registration will be closed on 3 March or when the number of participants will reach 700 people.
