15 February 2026 is the day when Almaty will host the Winter Run, a traditional winter race organised by “Courage to Be the First” Corporate Fund. This year will mark the twelfth start and it will gather 2 500 participants reopening the running season.

The Winter Run track goes along Al-Farabi Avenue – the widest urban route unveiling the breathtaking views of the mountains so well-known to the participants of Almaty races.

“We believe in importance of all-year-round sport activities, and all our runs and extra activities have been developed in such a way to make them possible. Winter race sets pace to the entire year and becomes the first point of entry to the preparation before the ultimate season event – the Almaty Marathon that will take place on 27 September 2026,” notes Galimzhan Yessenov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of “Courage to Be the First” Corporate Fund.

Preparation for the Winter Run helps runners step into a training process gradually, choose a distance they feel equal to, and feel that a race is possible any season, even in winter. The program provides for the following distances: 10 km for the participants aged 15 and above, 7 km Nordic Walking for the participants aged 15 and above, and 3 km for the children aged 10-14.

All the distances will start and finish near Nurly Tau Business Centre on Al-Farabi Avenue. Registration is available on almaty-marathon.kz website.

It should be noted that “Courage to Be the First” Corporate Fund will hold a series of runs in 2026. The races will be arranged as a single training and participation system. They will include the Winter Run, Summer Relay, City Run, Copa Speed Race 10K, Tau Jarys, Almaty Half Marathon, Astana Half Marathon, Turkistan Marathon, and the ultimate event of the year – the Almaty Marathon that will take place for the 15th time in 2026.

Registration for the Almaty Marathon and the Almaty Half Marathon is already open. Full Run Calendar is available on the Almaty Marathon website.
